Pets love you no matter who you are or what you do for a living. In fact, one of the beautiful things about animals is their loyalty and devotion. It’s always fun to read about celebrities and their pets, and how they interact with one another.
It’s not so different from how I interact with my pets – aside from the lavish meals, fancy beds and matching clothes. Sure, our pets get good nutrition from CANIDAE Natural Pet Food and they have comfortable beds. And even though we’re not big on matching clothes, I’m pretty sure my dog thinks I’m a celebrity, too.
Adam Sandler
As you might expect, Adam Sandler made an unconventional choice for the best man at his 2003 wedding: Meatball, his English bulldog. Meatball dressed the part, sporting an appropriate tuxedo and yarmulke. Sadly, Meatball is no longer with the Sandlers; at age four he died of a heart attack. They still have fun with their other English bulldog, Matzoball, who is alive and well, and enjoying the good life.
Martha Stewart
A powerful businesswoman known for her no-nonsense style, Martha Stewart is also known as a committed animal lover. She has always had a big brood of beautiful and often photographed pets. With four Chows: Cin-Cin, Zu-Zu, Paw-Paw, and Empress Woo; and seven Himalayan cats: Berlioz, Bartok, Teeny, Weeny, Verdi, Mozart, and Vivaldi, Martha Stewart is a celebrity who likes to be surrounded by lots of fur.
Jessica Simpson
When Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were MTV reality series darlings, they got a little Maltipoo (Maltese-poodle) and named her Daisy. At the time, Simpson was filming The Dukes of Hazzard (hence the dog’s name). She loaded Daisy into her handbag and toted her everywhere – to the movie set, the beauty parlor, tanning salon, you name it. After Jessica and Nick divorced, Jessica got custody of Daisy and they are still happily together.
Mariah Carey
Trying to lose her post-baby weight isn’t easy, but Mariah is getting special help from her high-energy Jack Russell Terrier, Jill E. Beans. Loyal to the breed, Carey has a pack of Jack Russells including JJ, Cha Cha, Jackie Lambchops, and Squeak E. Beans. These dogs stay active with Maria; they accompany her on jogs, they surf, and even do water aerobics with her. If Mariah Carey can keep up with five Jack Russell Terriers, I predict she’ll lose that baby weight quickly.
Oprah Winfrey
You can’t write a list about celebrities and their pets without including Oprah Winfrey. Her cocker spaniels Sophie and Solomon go everywhere with her, they are her constant companions. Winfrey also has three golden retrievers: Luke, Layla, and Gracie. The five dogs live with her in Chicago, in a spacious and high-end condominium complex. The problem is, this condo association has strict noise ordinances and a one-pet-per-unit rule, but so far she’s managed to keep her pack with her.

It is interesting how the celebrities love their animals which is terrific. You are so right, all of our animals get just as much love, maybe not as many fancy clothes and toys but a cardboard box is the favorite of most cats. Take care
ReplyDeleteI love that you write about celebrities and pets, as I do the same on Celebrity Pet News (www.celebritypetnews.com).
ReplyDeleteMy latest series is "The Real Housedogs of Beverly Hills".
Unfortunately, Daisy is no longer with Jessica. She was snatched by a coyote and was never again discovered.

I had to laugh about the one dog limit for Oprah. How could you complain about her dogs? Many pet loving celebrities use their fame to promote responsible pet ownership and speak out for the animals. Betty White has been an animal rights advocate for years.
ReplyDeleteWhen I die I want to come back as one of Oprah's dogs :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the stories of celebrity pets! We bet they live the good life...just like us!! But we heard Jessica Simpson's dog Daisy was taken by a coyote. Jessica was heartbroken about it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, need more kitties with celebs...
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Francesca and Sharkey, Martha Stewart's Frenchies.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good list and a fun post, but I agree with Rumblepurr -- we need more celebrity kitties!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a fan of Garfield, crazy fat kitty and I love my Garfield version too, Garfilda:-)
