People talk to dogs, but not all people talk to cats. I talk to my cat. I KNOW she will not answer, but I still speak to her. And I have faith she understands me more than I probably know. My favorite story (ask all my friends they have heard it a million times) is when I caught myself--I was distracted and wanted my cat to stop what she was doing--I caught myself saying "Nuh-uh!" Ya know, in the normal nuh-uh kind of tone. My cat stopped and looked at me. I think my tone said no and she "got it".
